Asher elected to ASA board, receives CWS award

Jana Asher, a Slippery Rock University associate professor of mathematics and statistics, has been elected to the board of directors of the American Statistical Association, the largest professional society of statisticians in the world. Asher will hold the position of Council of Sections Representative for the 2023-25 term.

Additionally, Asher was selected as the recipient of the Caucus for Women in Statistics Societal Impact Award, for her “outstanding efforts and impact on social justice through research, teaching and professional volunteer activities.” This award recognizes Asher for her work combating societal injustice through accurate and ethical quantitative measurement, and for her commitment toward teaching civic responsibility through statistical practice.
