Sander to lead industry safety initiatives for the NWRA

Kirk Sander, a 2003 Slippery Rock University graduate with a degree in environment geosciences, was recently named vice president of safety and standards for the National Waste & Recycling Association.

In this newly recreated position, Sander is leading the safety initiatives for the NWRA, a Washington, D.C.-based trade association that represents private-sector U.S. waste and recycling companies.

Sander previously worked for the National Safety Council, the White House, the Department of Interior, the Bureau of Safety & Environmental Enforcement, NASA and as the chief of staff for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. He earned his master's degree in environmental science and policy for the University of South Florida.
