Asher named program chair-elect of statistics special interest group

Jana Asher, Slippery Rock University assistant professor of mathematics and statistics, was named program chair-elect of the History of Statistics Special Interest Group of the American Statistical Association.

Asher will serve as program chair-elect in 2020 and program chair in 2021. In her role, Asher will organize programming related to the history of statistics for the Joint Statistical Meetings in 2021, as well as arrange the 2021 webinars and talks on the history of statistics for the HSSIG membership.

The HSSIG is a professional organization that shares information, research and other resources for people who have an active interest in the history of statistics. The annual Joint Statistical Meetings is the largest gathering of statisticians and data scientists in North America. It is sponsored jointly by 12 different organizations, including the American Statistical Association, and is attended by more than 6,000 people.
