Exercise Is Medicine At SRU

  • The Exercise is Medicine on Campus (EIM-OC) initiative encourages physical activity as a vital sign of health at universities and colleges.
  • Slippery Rock University (SRU) has partnered with the student health center and local physicians to assess physical activity.

Gold Level Recognition

  • Gold Level Recognition has been awarded to SRU for its efforts.
  • SRU is a leader in Exercise in Medicine 
  • Physical activity is recognized as a vital sign and a referral system is in place for exercise prescriptions.

Referral System

  • Slippery Rock healthcare providers can provide an exercise referral to an Exercise is Medicine graduate assistant who oversees senior exercise science interns for individualized exercise prescriptions.
  • The program offers a free exercise program.
  • During the program, participants receive:
    • Two one-hour exercise sessions per week.
    • Individualized exercise prescriptions, goal setting, and motivational strategies tailored to the participant's specific goals
