The Office of Campus Recreation is responsible for the Aebersold Student Recreation Center (ARC), the McFarland Recreational Sports Complex (MAC), Ski Lodge and campground. The facilities are used primarily for student recreational activities, but times are also allotted for facility rentals.
Aebersold Student Recreation Center (ARC)
The ARC is an 82,000 square-foot, state of the art controlled access recreation facility used for a variety of recreational programs including informal recreation and intramural sports. Participants must present their SRU ID or ARC Membership card to gain access.
Facility Components: Aquatic Center, climbing wall, fitness mezzanine, fitness lab, four gymnasiums, multiple activities court (MAC), multipurpose room, Russell Wright Fitness Center, fitness lab and track.
McFarland Recreational Sports Complex (MAC)
The MAC is an outdoor recreational sports complex used for informal recreation, intramural sports and facility rentals.
Facility Components: Two softball Fields, four multisport courts, Dek hockey rink/two basketball courts, exercise pathway, rugby field and disc golf course.
Reservations for either of these areas are on a first-come, first-serve basis. A permit must be secured from the Office of Campus Recreation, located in Aebersold Student Recreation Center prior to Ski Lodge or Campground use. The phone number is 724.738.4800.
The Ski Lodge and Campground are located a quarter mile northeast of the ARC (next to the ROCK Apartments) on 6 plus acres of land. The Ski Lodge rustic design offers a variety of opportunities for students to gather on campus. Shower and restroom facilities are available inside the lodge. The Sites are ideal for camping, picnicking and recreational activities.
Facility Components: Eighteen campsites (ten electrical), lodge includes general space plus restrooms/shower rooms.
