There are 7,789 students enrolled at Slippery Rock University for the spring 2022 semester, a 3.8% decline compared to last spring.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University's enrollment for the spring semester 2022 is 7,789 students, as of Feb. 7, the 15th day of classes, which is used for national and state reporting purposes.

Total enrollment is down 3.8% compared to spring 2021. That decline matches the national trend for undergraduate student enrollment at public four-year institutions, based on the most recent report from the National Student Clearinghouse Research Center.

"The slight decline continues a trend that is attributed to the COVID-19 pandemic and the challenging economic environment," said Amanda Yale, SRU's chief enrollment management officer. "We are encouraged with the enrollment data for fall 2022 including the number of applications, offers and deposits made for the upcoming fall term. We're also encouraged that we're seeing less than a 1% decline in first-year students, which indicates a return to normal."

There are only 11 fewer first-year students at SRU this semester (1,275) compared to spring 2021 (1,286). Also, graduate student enrollment remains high. While there were a record 1,503 graduate students enrolled for fall 2021, that number is 1,430 for spring 2022 and is just 20 fewer graduate students than spring 2021.

Spring semester enrollment is typically lower than the fall semester within an academic year, and SRU's fall 2021 enrollment of 8,424 (6,921 undergraduates and 1,503 graduate students) is reported as the University's official enrollment for the 2021-22 academic year.
