SRU’s online master’s degree in math education named one of nation’s best

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University's online master's degree in math education program - secondary education: math/science with STEM concentration - has been ranked by OnlineMasters.com as one of the "best online master's in math education programs" for 2019.

SRU was one of 32 programs in the country recognized by OnlineMasters.com, which evaluated institutions based on academic quality, student success and affordability.

OnlineMasters.com, a nonprofit ranking program that's assisted more than 112,000

students and analyzed more than 6,000 programs, researched every online master's in math education program in the United States by consulting industry experts, hiring managers, current students and alumni.

The secondary education: math/science program at SRU has both a basic track and an advance track.

The basic teaching track is designed for individuals who possess a bachelor's degree and appropriate coursework in mathematics or one of the sciences (biology, chemistry, geology or physics) but do not have a teacher certification. Successful completion of the program will lead to a master's degree with state certification.

The advanced teaching track is for individuals who already possess teacher certification in mathematics or one of the sciences. In addition to core courses, students will concentrate on individual professional development by electing 12 semester hours of coursework from the areas of special education, foundations of education, instructional technology or counseling.
