SRU trustees to meet March 22-23

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University's council of trustees will meet March 22-23. Committee meetings will take place March 22 in Room 320 of the Smith Student Center. The Governance Committee meeting will take place at 11 a.m., March 23 in Room 320 of the Smith Student Center; and the quarterly business meeting will take place at 1 p.m., March 23 in the Smith Student Center Theatre. All meetings are open to the public.

Agenda items for the March 22 committee meetings include reports from the Academic and Student Affairs Committee, Finance Committee and University Advancement Committee.

The Academic and Student Affairs Committee will meet at 1:30 p.m., March 22 to hear from James Dombrosky, assistant professor for hospitality, event management and tourism, who will present the Master of Science in Hospitality and Tourism Management program for approval by the Council and subsequent advancement to the State System's board of governors.

Other ASAC presentations will include:

-Brad Wilson, associate provost for transformational experiences, and George Brown, director of the Honors Program, will present criteria required to establish an Honors College.
-Amanda Yale, associate provost for enrollment management, will provide an update on enrollment.
-Carrie Birckbichler, associate provost for academic planning, resource management and assessment, will present an update on academic programming

The Finance Committee will meet at 2:30 p.m., March 22 to receive a presentation from Amir Mohammadi, vice president for finance, administration and advancement on student fees, including continuation of the STEM-H differential fee, for the 2018-19 academic year; the University's capital budget; and updates on the master plan and construction of the Performing Arts Center. The committee also will review contracts, fixed assets and service and supply purchase orders; the quarterly financial report; a review of the facilities and planning project list; and personnel appointments.

The University Advancement Committee will meet at 3:30 p.m., March 22 to receive a status report from Mohammadi on implementation of the SRU Foundation, Inc.'s energy savings program; endowment spending policy and performance indicator ranking; while also receiving an overview of advancement and foundation operations.

Jim Dillion, State System vice chancellor for administration and finance, will present the University financial risk assessment at 9 a.m., March 23.

The Governance Committee will meet at 11 a.m., March 23 to receive a summary update on SRU's recently concluded presidential search; nominations for the election of officers; and to review the University calendar and COT bylaws.

The Council's quarterly business meeting at 1 p.m. will call for action to be taken on the approval of the meeting agenda and minutes from the Dec. 8 quarterly and Feb. 23 special COT meetings; a demonstration by faculty and students from the University's Department of Safety Management; a review of committee reports and of those items forwarded by the committees for action by the full council.
