SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — Commencement is right around the corner, but before students can make that turn they'll need to attend the SGA Bookstore's Graduation Fair, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., April 9, in the Smith Student Center Ballroom.

This is the first opportunity for undergraduate students, who applied to graduate before the March 1 deadline, to pick up their allotted four guest tickets for one of SRU's two undergraduate commencement ceremonies May 11. Graduate students do not need tickets for the 7 p.m., May 10 commencement ceremony.

The Graduation Fair is also a chance for all graduates to purchase regalia, a class ring, diploma frame and other University memorabilia and related items.

Guests, including children, must have a ticket to enter the Morrow Field House for the 9 a.m. or 2 p.m. undergraduate commencement ceremonies. After the Graduation Fair, guest tickets can be picked up from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., April 10-19, in Old Main, Suite 302 or 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., April 13, in the Smith Student Center. A valid student ID is required to pick up tickets.

Students who missed the March 1 deadline to apply for graduation must apply in person at Academic Records located in Old Main, Suite 107. Those that missed the March 1 deadline are not guaranteed guest tickets or that their name will appear in the commencement program.

At the fair, the SRU Alumni Association will distribute zipper pulls to candidates and distribute medallions to magna cum laude graduates. Graduating seniors will be able to join the Alumni Association for a special rate of $25 and will receive a free gift.

Staff from SRU's Office of Career Education and Development will be distributing information about the official "First Destination" survey that graduates will receive via email. The survey measures what graduates are doing after college. Additionally, the CED will provide information about its April workshops, "Managing Money and Debt" and the "Senior Career 411" program that will cover letters, resumes, using LinkedIn, networking, interviewing skills and the best and worst ways to search for a job.

Questions related to caps, gowns, graduation announcements and rings should be directed to the SGA Bookstore at: 724.738.2014.
