SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — Slippery Rock University's sport management degree program has been ranked as one of the top 25 best in the country by bachelorsdegreecenter.org,

The website "helps prospective students find the best educational, undergraduate program that suits their financial, educational and personal situation by providing current information of higher education institutions in the United States."

The rankings were compiled by website staff utilizing sources including the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System, College Scorecard and Niche. Rankings were based on criteria including reputation, cost, return on investment, graduation rate and employment rate. Programs were then ranked according to their average score in all five criteria.

Only schools with accreditation from the Commission on Sport Management were considered.

SRU, ranked No. 6, joined Kutztown University as the only two institutions from Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education to make the list.

As one of the oldest programs of its kind, and the first COSMA-accredited program in the nation, SRU's program has set the bar for sport administration programs for more than 40 years. Students in the program develop a foundation in sport management and critical thinking skills while gaining hands-on experience. Students also gain a broad understanding in other areas including marketing, economics, communications and finance and the relationship of those sectors to sport management.
