SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — The Slippery Rock University Presidential Search Committee has announced four virtual town hall meetings, set for May 5, for various campus and community groups to offer input on the selection process of SRU's next president.

Current SRU President William Behre, who was appointed as the University's 17th president in 2018, announced his retirement, effective June 30, 2023, in February.

The May 5 virtual town halls include:
    • SRU Alumni Association board of directors, 9:30-10:30 a.m.
    • SRU council of trustees, 11 a.m. to noon.
    • SRU Foundation, Inc. board of directors, 1-2 p.m.
    • Local residents, 3-4 p.m.

"Slippery Rock University is Butler County's university and the Presidential Search Committee wants to provide the residents of our county, as well as those neighboring communities in Lawrence and Mercer counties, the opportunity to provide input into the search process," said Jeffrey Smith, SRU trustee and chair of the search committee.

At each town hall, participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback about the search, offer suggestions about the opportunities and challenges facing SRU's next president, and discuss the skills and attributes they feel the next president should possess.

Attending the sessions will be members of the Presidential Search Committee, as well as representatives from RPA Inc., the firm retained to assist in the search.

Local residents wanting to attend the 3-4 p.m. session can register for the event by clicking on the link above.

The virtual town halls come on the heels of a variety of in-person listening sessions, April 29, for students, faculty and staff.
