SRU named one of state’s best online colleges

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University has been named as one of Pennsylvania's best online colleges by bestcolleges.com, earning a No. 4 ranking among the top 25.

Best Colleges ranked schools based on academic quality, affordability and online competency. The 2018 rankings reflect the most recent data available from the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System and College Navigator, both of which are hosted by the National Center for Education Statistics.

Ranking factors included:

• Academic quality (admissions, enrollment, retention and six-year graduation rates), 50 percent.
• Affordability (average net price, percentage of enrolled students taking federal loans and loan default rate), 25 percent.
• Online programming (number of online programs offered and percentage of enrolled students taking online courses), 25 percent.

"Our goal is to objectively assess relative quality based on academic outcomes, affordability and the breadth and depth of online learning opportunities," said Allison Newton, outreach coordinator for bestcolleges.com.
