White Out shirts in the book store

Sept. 17, 2019

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — The fan uniform for the evening of Sept. 21 is WHITE. Got that everyone, WHITE? Event organizers are hoping fans will turn out en masse wearing WHITE when Slippery Rock University hosts its annual "White Out" game Sept. 21 at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium. The Rock (2-0) will host Millersville University (1-1) at 6 p.m.

"White Out night is incredible," SRU President William Behre said. "There is just something electric about the stadium at night when all you see is a sea of white."

As it has since the first "White Out" night some 10+ years ago, the Slippery Rock Student Government Association Bookstore, located in the Smith Student Center, is selling official "White Out" T-shirts for $5 (S-XL) and $7 (2XL-3XL), T-shirts not sold prior to game day will be available at the stadium.

Joe Flynn, manager of the SGA Bookstore, said that while 2,100 commemorative shirts were ordered for this year's event, buyer's should act quick. "Shirts are practically flying off the shelves," said Flynn. "Folks shouldn't wait too long or they'll get shut out."

The SGA Bookstore is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday.

Fans without the 2019 souvenir T-shirt can still get in on the fun simply by wearing any white SRU branded apparel as a show of support for SRU.

SRU's "White Out" takes place in conjunction with Slippery Rock's 17th Annual VillageFest, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sept. 21 in downtown Slippery Rock, rain or shine. Attendees are able to enjoy a variety of vendors, live entertainment, children's games, community booths and plenty of great carnival food.
