Nazmul Rony, a Slippery Rock University assistant professor of strategic communication and media, has received funding from the Center for Positive Marketing and the Association of National Advertisers Educational Foundation to conduct marketing research. Rony and Lara Zwarun, associate professor of communication and media at the University of Missouri, St. Louis, and Melodi Guilbault, assistant dean, Martin Tuchman School of Management, New Jersey Institute of Technology, will conduct research about how “badging” is used by brands to certify consumers’ participation or achievement for social causes and how it motivates their pro-social behavior. The Center for Positive Marketing is a research initiative of the Fordham University’s Gabelli School of Business. The team expects to complete the project by the end of 2021.
