SRU students inducted into the Order of the Sword and Shield

An group of 15 Slippery Rock University students were recently inducted as the inaugural class of the Order of the Sword and Shield, a national honor society for homeland security, intelligence, emergency management and protective security studies disciplines.

To qualify for membership, a student must have a GPA of at least 3.25, be a junior or senior and have completed more than half of the coursework in their major as designated by the OSS.

The OSS, established in 2010, has chapters at 56 institutions around the world. The chapter at SRU was created in 2018.

SRU students inducted into the Order of the Sword and Shield are:

  • Jake Beretta, a junior homeland security major from Harrison City.
  • Hayley Boyd, a senior criminology and criminal justice major from Erie.
  • Sarah Brennan, a junior homeland security major from Erie.
  • Janell Burkett, a senior homeland security major from Punxsutawney.
  • Morgan Cermak, a senior corporate security major from Indiana.
  • Brandon Cleary, a junior homeland security major from Sewickley.
  • Alexis Gagliano, a senior homeland security major from Ellwood City.
  • Tyler George, a junior homeland security major from Pulaski.
  • Derrick Kettering, a senior homeland security major from Slippery Rock.
  • Robert Krauss, a senior corporate security major from Cranberry Township.
  • Alyssa Logan, a junior corporate security major from Cabot.
  • Matthew Montanaro, a senior homeland security major from Coraopolis.
  • Brock Ruth, a senior homeland security major from DuBois.
  • Brendan Schneiderman, a senior homeland security major from Enola.
  • Logan Thrush, a senior homeland security major from Brookville.
