Asher named chair of ASA survey section

Jana Asher, a Slippery Rock University assistant professor of mathematics and statistics, has been elected chair of the American Statistical Association's Survey Research Methods Section. Asher will serve as chair-elect for 2021 and chair for 2022.

The SRMS is one of several sections and interest groups that helps ASA members working in subdisciplines, subject areas or industries. The SRMS specifically educates members about survey practice and methods. In her new role, Asher will serve on the program committee for the 2022 Joint Statistical Meetings, which is the largest gathering of statisticians and data scientists in North America.

The AMA is the world's largest community of statisticians that supports excellence in the development, application and dissemination of statistical science.
