Slippery Rock University students and professors presented workshops and research at the 2022 Civic Learning & Democratic Engagement meeting in Minneapolis this June.

Cheryl Kerchis, assistant professor of political science; Brooklyn Graham, a senior political science major from Kittaning; and Hillary Twiford, a senior political science major from Saegertown, conducted a workshop based on their individual research. The “Training the Next Generation about Race, Public Policy and Collective responsibility” workshop addressed the issue of developing a diversity, equity and inclusion course on racial disparities.

Kerchis and Dave Kershaw, associate professor of political science, were also part of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities ADP’s Economic Literary Project and presented a microgame workshop that focused on how a fictional community would spend its American Rescue Plan Act funds in an equitable manner.
