Brittany Nwachuku, a Slippery Rock University assistant professor of public health and social work, was one of two women selected to represent Pennsylvania in the United State of Women Ambassador program.

The USOW is a national organization dedicated to convening, connecting and amplifying voices in the fight for gender equity. Under the leadership of former first lady Michelle Obama, the USOW Ambassador program was launched in 2018 as an opportunity for women leaders across the country to work one-on-one with each other to build a community and advocate for social change. Ambassadors either apply or are nominated for the role and are selected by a USOW committee.

Nwachuku, whose area of research focusses on the diversity of health care professionals, plans to use to USOW platform to continue fighting for equality and justice related to women’s health across Pennsylvania.
