Brett Barnett, a Slippery Rock University professor of communication, recently conducted a 90-minute workshop at the 2018 Ohio Communication Association Conference, educating undergraduate communication law instructors about ways they could maintain and/or increase student interest in their classroom.

Barnett, who began teaching university-level communication law courses in Ohio during the late 1990s before coming to SRU in 2005, was the only faculty member from Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education represented at the conference.

He has authored several communication law articles and his book, "Untangling the Web of Hate: Are Online 'Hate Sites' Deserving of First Amendment Protection?," is available in the libraries of more than 650 colleges, in 44 states and more than 50 countries, as well as the FBI Library in Quantico, Virginia.
