Environmental Health and Safety Emergency Management
Responsible for most campus safety initiatives, the Department of Environmental Health & Safety and Emergency Management works to ensure University compliance with applicable federal, state, and local legislation related to occupational safety and environmental health matters, and coordinate the management of campus emergencies. EHS/EM collaborates with Facilities & Planning to develop and facilitate maintenance, renovation, and construction projects in a safe and compliant manner. Working in close collaboration with SRU Police and the University Administration, EHS/EM also recommends policies and procedures for risk management and emergency preparedness, promotes safe healthy work places, and encourages proactive measures towards sustainability and environmentally responsible programs.
EHS/EM is responsible for the management and oversight of a number of University programs, including accident reporting and workers compensation- a general menu of EHS/EM programs is provided to the left on this main page.
EHS/EM services are available Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm. Additionally, we remain on call twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week to respond to campus emergencies as needed. If someone requires emergency safety assistance after hours, please contact the University Police Department at 724.738.3333, who will in turn notify EHS/EM.
