Slippery Rock University’s online Principal Certificate program prepares educators to lead with confidence in today’s complex PK–12 school environments. This 21-credit, part-time program is designed for aspiring school leaders in Pennsylvania and focuses on strategic planning, organizational vision, shared governance, and effective decision-making. You’ll gain practical expertise in areas such as finance, budgeting, enrollment management, marketing, and leadership development. Courses are offered year-round and include two practicum placements for real-world experience. All applicants must submit the following materials along with the completed online graduate application and non-refundable application fee:

  • Official transcripts - undergraduate and graduate degree transcripts
  • GPA requirements - undergraduate GPA of a 3.0 and graduate degree with a 3.5 or higher
  • Resume
  • Two letters of recommendation (references who can articulate the applicant’s academic background and leadership potential)
  • Copy of teaching certificate or educational specialist certificate (PA and out-of-state applicants with active teaching or specialist certificates)
