Exercise is Medicine
IMPROVING HEALTH THROUGH EXERCISE
Slippery Rock University strives to promote wellness in the campus community through proactive measures. Physical Inactivity is a major contributor to the development of chronic diseases, such as heart disease, type II diabetes, and certain types of cancer. A lack of physical activity is also linked with conditions like obesity, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. Fortunately, appropriate exercise can be implemented on a regular basis to reduce the risk of developing these diseases and conditions.
Exercise is Medicine on Campus
Exercise is Medicine on Campus (EIM-OC) is a program initiative for universities and colleges to promote physical activity as a vital sign of health. At Slippery Rock University we encourage faculty, staff, administration, and students to work together toward improving the health and well-being of the campus community. We promote activity as part of a healthy culture on campus by encouraging the campus community to engage in regular physical activity, providing a variety of diverse opportunities to be active, and providing personalized exercise programs to help individuals reach their exercise goals.
