Environmental Health and Safety Emergency Management

EHS/EM Logo

Responsible for most campus safety initiatives, the Department of Environmental Health & Safety works to ensure University compliance with applicable federal, state, and local legislation related to occupational safety and environmental health matters. EHS collaborates with Facilities & Planning to develop and facilitate maintenance, renovation, and construction projects in a safe and compliant manner. Working in close collaboration with law enforcement and the University Administration, EHS also recommends policies and procedures for risk management and emergency preparedness, promotes safe healthy work places, and encourages proactive measures towards sustainability and environmentally responsible programs.

EHS is responsible for the management and oversight of a number of University programs, including accident reporting and workers compensation- select EHS programs below for their complete details, and links to forms where applicable.

EHS services are available Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm. Additionally, EHS personnel remain on call twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week to respond to campus emergencies as needed. If someone requires emergency safety assistance after hours, please contact the University Police Department at 724.738.3333, who will in turn notify EHS.
