Dear SRU Family:
Without question, we are living in challenging and complex times. As I’m sure you’ll recall from his novel “ A Tale of Two Cities,” Charles Dickens wrote “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times…” and in many ways, I think that we can all relate to those words given our current situation.
We are dealing with a global pandemic that has changed how we live, work and interact with each other; it is like nothing we have seen in our lifetime. And yet, every day we hear stories of survival and sharing; people extending a virtual hand to their fellow persons in this time of need.
In times like these, it is important to be there for one another, even if it is only in a virtual environment; to keep the faith; and to invest in those things that can change lives, now and in the future: people. We need to continue to engage, encourage, love and support each other through not only this difficult period, but every day.
To that end, I wanted to share with you a little bit about what Slippery Rock University has recently done to step up for others in our community. In a news article published on the University’s website, you’ll see that The Rock was able to share a variety of personal protection equipment from its instructional stock with a number of local health and safety entities during this, their time of need.
I hope that all of you are able to stay safe and healthy.
Until next time, all my best.
