Admission FAQ

Do I have to have all pre-requisite requirements completed before applying to the program?

No, prerequisites can be in the process of completion with a plan in place to complete all pre-requisite requirements before matriculation.

Are AP/IP courses accepted for pre-requisite requirements?

The program only accepts English AP courses to fulfill a pre-requisite requirement.

Does the program award advanced placement?

No, the program must be completed in its entirety by all students. There are no waivers granted for pre-requisite requirements.

When does the program start?

Classes begin for each matriculating cohort in the summer. The Cohort of 2027 will begin classes June 2, 2024.

Do you make exceptions for requirements based on healthcare experience?

No. The program does not make exceptions for pre-requisite requirements based on any experience.

Didactic Year FAQ

What does a typical schedule look like for didactic students?

Students in the didactic phase should plan to be in class between the hours of 8-5pm; in addition, evening classes are also utilized during the program.

Is there a minimum GPA that must be maintained in the program?

Yes. A minimum of a 3.00 Cumulative GPA is required within the program. Please see Program Requirements: Program Policies for additional information.

Does the Program offer advanced placement?

No. The program does not allow for advanced placement or a waiver for any required curriculum component within the program.

Are there clinical experiences during the didactic phase of the program?

Yes. Each student will take Clinical Exposure Practicum in the spring semester of their didactic year. This course begins the transition of didactic learning to the clinical education phase of the program.

Clinical Year FAQ

Are students responsible for finding their own rotations?

No students are not required and are not permitted to find their own clinical rotations. All clinical rotations are scheduled and reviewed by the Clinical Coordinator and Clinical faculty. Students are able to provide information about desired clinical rotations but any placements are at the discretion of the Clinical Coordinator and Clinical Faculty.

Do I get to choose my own clinical rotations?

The program allows students to provide information on their desired rotations. These are simply requests and are not a guarantee that a student will receive the clinical rotation of their choice. All placements for clinical rotations are at the discretion of the Clinical Coordinator and Clinical Faculty.

Are there clinical sites that require travel?

All clinical rotations are within the United States. All students should expect to travel to and from rotations. In addition, students should anticipate the need for additional housing in various areas where rotations are scheduled.

Technology and Classrooms FAQ

What type of technology does the PA program use?

The Physician Assistant program housed in the Harrisville building has state of the art technology. This includes student computer labs, 5 Simulation mannequins, video recording, patient examination rooms and skills models. The program also uses standardized patients for students to simulate real life scenarios during the didactic year.
