Slippery Rock University Physician Assistant program students are eligible to take the PANCE upon successful completion and graduation. This exam is developed jointly by the National Board of Medical Examiners and the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Slippery Rock University does not guarantee third-party certification/licensure. Outside agencies control the requirements for taking and passing certification/licensing exams and are subject to change without notice to Slippery Rock University.

Learning Outcomes

Program Learning Outcomes

In April 2018 the PA Program Faculty met to discuss the Program Learning Outcomes (PLO). During this meeting the faculty evaluated the outcomes and revised the PLOs, not to eliminate any of the previous 22 PLOs but rather to clarify the PLOs and to ensure each was clear and measurable. The result are 10 faculty revised and approved Program Learning Outcomes. The revised PLOs are effective as of May 2018.

01. Apply basic science knowledge to the medical sciences.
02. Demonstrate competency in clinical procedures performed by Physician Assistants.
03. Demonstrate ability to perform a complete history and physical examination.
04. Demonstrate ability to diagnose disease and create an appropriate treatment plan.
05. Demonstrate the use of Evidence-Based Medicine to effectively diagnose and treat patients.
06. Demonstrate cross-cultural and socioeconomic sensitivity in clinical practice settings involving special patient populations.
07. Demonstrate effective communication skills in a healthcare setting.
08. Demonstrate the ability to collaborate within an interprofessional health care team.
09. Demonstrate ethical decision-making in the practice of medicine.
10. Participate in professional societies that promote PA practice and advancement.
