SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — Slippery Rock University has once again received national recognition for its education programs by earning a 2021-22 Field of Study badge from the Colleges of Distinction. College of Distinction, which is an online guide for college-bound students, honored SRU's education programs for a fifth straight year.

In addition to the University being recognized as a 2021-22 College of Distinction for its high-impact approach to education, SRU has received specialized recognition from COD for its education programs. According to COD, the Field of Study badge for education indicates that SRU is graduating "future educators who are not only knowledgeable, but also efficient mentors who provide empathetic support and novel teaching methods."

"We complete a thorough review of the programs in question before giving the awards," said Tyson Schritter, chief operating officer for Colleges of Distinction. "We're looking for such qualities as accreditation, breadth of program, advising and mentoring, integration of career services and successful outcomes for students. It's wonderful to see how SRU really exemplifies these qualities."

SRU's College of Education consists of six academic departments, more than 70 faculty members and more than 1,700 students across 14 degree programs.

"We're proud of the hard work that our faculty and staff continue to do as we provide high quality programs that enable our students to succeed," said Keith Dils, dean of SRU's College of Education. "Gaining recognition from Colleges of Distinction is a great reminder that SRU is a special place and we're grateful to have this opportunity to share that with others."

Earlier this year, SRU earned badges from COD for being named  a 2021-22 national, public and Pennsylvania college of distinction, as well as a Field of Study badge for business programs.
