The following scholarships are funded by generous donors through the SRU Foundation. Students are automatically considered for scholarships in this section based upon the admission application materials and/or Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). No other application is required. Students selected for these scholarships will be notified.
Abent Family Scholarship: Must have financial need. First preference given to first generation students.
Academic Affairs Scholarship: Demonstrate superior academic achievement, and good moral character. Priority is given to Mercer County residents. Financial need required.
Ben Addison Marching Pride Scholarship: Awarded to an incoming freshman with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Applicant must be a member of the SRU Marching pride and be enrolled as a full time student.
Robert N. Aebersold Scholarship: 1200 SAT or equivalent ACT and top 10% of high school class. This scholarship is renewable.
African-American Alumni Scholarship: First preference is given to an African American applicant. Must have a minimum QPA of 2.5. Must have financial need.
Anna C. Allen Scholarships: This scholarship awards academic performance.
Frank and Tiffany Aloi Scholarship: Must have financial need. First preference given to students from either Purchase Line Jr. Sr. High School in Commodore, PA or Penns Manor Area Junior/Senior High School in Clymer, PA. Second preference will be given to students with an interest in majoring in Math or History.
Dorotha Elder Anderson Endowed Scholarship: Must have attended Reynolds, Greenville, Jamestown (PA) or Conneaut Area Senior High Schools.
The Eliott and Deb Baker Family Scholarship: Must be a first generation college student who is accepted into the SRU Honors program. The recipient must also be full-time and represent financial need.
The Berkley Annual Scholarship: The purpose of the Berkely Annual Scholarship is to provide financial assistance to students entering Slippery Rock University from the New Castle, PA Area, specifically Union Area, Mohawk Area, Shenango Area, Neshannock Area, Laurel Area, and New Castle Area school districts.
Diane Breidenstein Scholarship: Must be a first generation college students. Must have financial need.
Harry J. Brownfield Memorial Scholarship: Must have academic merit. First preference given to an applicant from Fayette County. If no one applies from Fayette County then applicants from Greene or Washington County will be considered. Must be full-time and have financial need.
Dr. Edward R. Bucha Scholarship: Must have a financial need.
Patrick Cappatt Family Scholarship: Applicant must be a full-time student. Student must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Student also has to have financial need. First preference to students from New Castle High School - Lawrence County PA, second preference to students from a Lawrence County, PA secondary school, then students from a secondary school in Butler County, PA.
Dorothy K. Castner and Myrtle K. Wilson Scholarship: Awarded to a freshman.
Meiping Cheng Scholarship: Must be full-time. Student must have financial need. Preference given to students with community service and activities.
Susan '76 and Ralph Christie Scholarship: Awarded to incoming freshman.
Grady W. and Helen L. Magee Cooper Scholarship: Must reside in Butler, Lawrence or Mercer County, PA and achieve academic excellence. This scholarship is renewable. Must be a U.S. citizen.
Reno & Margaret Cruz Scholarship: Financial need required. Must be a western PA resident. Minimum high school GPA of 3.0.
The Cully Family Scholarship: Must be a freshman School of Business major. Financial need required.
The Dickinson Family Scholarship: Resident of Blackhawk or Beaver Falls High School in Beaver County, PA. Student must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 and demonstrate financial need.
Eberly Family Scholarship: Resident of Fayette County, PA and demonstrate superior academic achievement and good moral character. Financial need is required. Student must take 24 credits per year.
Michael J. Estocin '54 Memorial Scholarship: Incoming Freshmen with 3.5 QPA or higher, in top 20% of graduating class. Financial need is required.
FirstEnergy STEM Scholarship: Applicant must be majoring in a STEM field.
First National Bank (FNB) Scholarship: Must have a minimum 3.5 QPA. Must reside in an area serviced by FNB.
George T. Force-Cynthia A. Dillon Scholarship at Slippery Rock University: Financial need is required. Available to full-time and part-time students. Must be a graduate of a western Pennsylvania school. Must have at least a 2.5 high school GPA. Must demonstrate community service involvement. Students who qualify for a Slippery Rock University tuition waiver are not eligible.
David Geesey Scholarship: Must have financial need.
James P. Gillen Memorial Scholarship: Must reside in Allegheny or Butler County, PA and have prior community service experience. Financial need is required for this scholarship.
Ralph Emerson Greasley Scholarship: Must exhibit academic excellence, and demonstrate financial need.
The Jeanne Furrie Endowed Scholarship Fund: Must have financial need. Must be a graduate of a high school in Pennsylvania or Ohio with preference given to students in western PA. Applicant must have gainful employment outside of the classroom. Scholarship is renewable. Students will be reviewed first through the Freshman Scholarship Application. The Scholarship Committee will contact selected students during the process for proof of employment and an interview with the SRU Alumni Association Scholarship Committee.
Grove City County Market Scholarship: Graduate of Grove City, Mercer or Slippery Rock Area High School and display academic perseverance. Must demonstrate financial need.
Hall Endowed Scholarship: Student must be enrolled at SRU and must demonstrate financial need.
Dr. Edwin and Agnes Hasson Memorial Scholarship: First preference will be given to a graduating student from Tyrone High School. Second preference will be given to a graduating student from Butler High School.
James S. Hawkins Family Student Opportunity Endowment Scholarship: First-year student matriculating to Slippery Rock University from Oil City or Venango Catholic high schools in Pennsylvania. Undergraduate progressing toward a degree. Full-time student. Must demonstrate financial need.
Health and Human Services Scholarship: Must be in the major of Health and Safety, Athletic Training, Dance, Parks and Recreation, or Physical Education. Applicants High School GPA must be a minimum 3.2. Applicant must show involvement in activities in major/community service. Has to have a minimum score of a 1050 on the SAT.
Russell and Alma Hemphill Memorial Scholarship: Must be an Education major. Student needs to demonstrate financial need and good academic standing.
Darrell J. Hess Scholarship: Must reside in Homestead, Munhall, West Homestead, West Mifflin or Whitaker, PA. Demonstrate dedication and perseverance in academic work. Financial need is required.
Patty Hladio Scholarship: Must have a 3.25 high school GPA. First preference goes to a student who demonstrates financial need and who is the first in their family to attend college.
The Hollenbaugh Family Scholarship: Preference given to a student with Home-School background.
Ronald J. Hunt Scholarship: 2.5 High School QPA. Preference to African American applicants.
Kids First Scholarship: Demonstrate academic excellence. Graduate of Central Catholic H.S. in Dubois, Brockway, Jefferson Tech High Schools. Financial need is required.
Dr. Patricia Morgan Knoll, Ph.D. Memorial Education Scholarship: Awarded to graduates of Sto-Rox High School. Preference given to elementary education majors.
Alicia Stackhouse Kopp Scholarship: Must have financial need.
Stanley Kraus Scholarship: First preference given to graduates of Neshannock High School, PA.
Lawton Family Scholarship: Awarded to first-generation students. Must be full-time.
Leslie Family Scholarship: Awarded to a full-time student. The first preference is a first-generation student who is nontraditional, and second preference is a first-generation student.
Dale Liken Scholarship: First preference given to students who participated in Junior Achievement. This scholarship is renewable. Dale Liken Scholarship Application.
Carl B. Madison '92 Memorial Scholarship: Must have a financial need. First preference given to African-American students.
Nate and Irene Maruca Scholarship: First preference given to graduates of Avonworth or Quaker Valley high schools. Must demonstrate financial need.
McPherson Family Scholarship: Must have financial need.
Mercer Annual Scholarship: Must have a minimum 3.5 GPA and demonstrate financial need.
Joseph D. Monteleone Scholarship: Graduate of Grove City High School. Scholarship is renewable with a 3.0 SRU GPA. Student must demonstrate financial need.
Myrtle Beach Alumni Scholarship: First preference given to students from North or South Carolina. If there are no North or South Carolina students, the scholarship is available to any out of state student. Minimum GPA of 3.0 required.
Penny Pascka Scholarship: Must be in the major of Physical Education, Physical Therapy or Adapted PE. Must have financial need.
Joyce Patterson Scholarship: Must have financial need.
Dr. and Mrs. Arthur William Phillips Scholarship: SAT score of 1,000 or ACT score of 22. Must reside in Venango, Armstrong, Butler, Clarion, Crawford, Erie, Forest, Lawrence, Mercer or Warren County in PA.
Robert H. Pratt Scholarship Criteria: Incoming freshman. Preference will go to students from Kennedy Catholic, Hickory High School, and Mercer county.
Quality Aggregates at Laurel High School Scholarship: Graduate of Laurel High School. Applicant chosen will be the student with the highest QPA and who has applied for admission to SRU by December 1
Reed Family Scholarship: This scholarship is non-renewable. Financial need is required.
Ruth and Tom Roose Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to a freshman.
Jan and Larry Sargert Endowed Scholarship: Must be a first generation college student. Must have a minimum QPA of 3.0.
William and Susan Schmitt Scholarship: Must have financial need.
John O. Stoner Scholarship: First preference goes to a Somerset County resident. Student must exhibit academic excellence and demonstrate financial need.
Henry & Bev Suhr Scholarship: Must have financial need.
Catherine C. and James E. Swift '67 Scholarship: Must have financial need.
Evelyn Taggart and John Taggart Scholarship: Student must be a western PA resident, have a minimum high school GPA of 3.0, demonstrate financial need, and demonstrate commitment to community service. A minimum 3.0 GPA required for renewal.
William and Sharon Thomas Honors Scholarship: Must be in the Honors College. Awarded to a Butler County resident.
Barry K. Thompson Scholarship: Must be a graduate of Moniteau High School. Must have financial need.
Martin and Helen K. Thompson Scholarship: Butler County Resident. Must be an Early Childhood Education major. Student must demonstrate financial need.
Richard Tillack Memorial Scholarship: Graduate of North Allegheny High School, PA. Preference is given to secondary education or science majors. Financial need is required.
The Watson Family Scholarship for Slippery Rock Area High School Graduates:
Slippery Rock Area High School graduate. Entering Freshman. First preference given to students majoring in biology or secondary education biology, or elementary education.
The Watson Family Scholarship for Graduates of an Allegheny, Beaver, or Butler County High School: Graduate of an Allegheny, Beaver or Butler County High School. Entering Freshman. First preference given to students majoring in biology, secondary education biology or elementary education.
Barry Welsch Family Scholarship: Must demonstrate financial need.
John and Helen Williams Endowed Scholarship: Graduate of Conneaut Area High School, PA. Minimum high school QPA of 3.0. Student should demonstrate financial need. First preference to students majoring in education.
Veteran Readmit "Second Chance" Scholarship Criteria: Applicant must be an honorably discharged US military veteran who has been readmitted to SRU as a full time student after military service. Award priority will be given to the following, Information Technology or related major, STEM majors, and Education majors.
Mark T. Young Endowed Scholarship: Must have financial need. Awarded to a freshman.
