Storm Harbor Equestrian Center

Welcome to Storm Harbor Equestrian Center! At Storm Harbor, we serve the entire community, encompassing more than six counties in the Pittsburgh area. Storm Harbor Equestrian Center provides weekly Equine Assisted Activities (EAA) for people of all ages with cognitive, physical, emotional and social disabilities.

While our main focus is children and adults with disabilities, we also offer a few programs which are open to the general public. We provide certified instructors and services for our Special Olympic Equestrian Team, Disabled Veterans programs, and community summer camps, many programs for individuals on the Autism Spectrum and additional day programs for local community agencies, schools and youth programs for children and adults with disabilities. The SRU Foundation Inc. is the fiscal agent for the Storm Harbor Equestrian Center.

Our Facility

Our Barn consists of 12 standard sized horse stalls, feed/tack room, wash bay and a separate Hay shed. We have a fenced outdoor riding arena (120'-220') and a heated indoor riding arena (80'x130') with accessible wheelchair lift. Behind the barn you will find 13 acres of pasture and trails and a newly developed sensory trail.

EAA Accreditation

Storm Harbor Equestrian Center is a Premier Accredited Center with PATH International (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship), the major organization in the country for equine assisted activities. All of our instructors are certified through PATH Intl. We are currently the only center with a Premier status in western Pennsylvania.
