Transition for Student Information System
SRU Communication - January 24, 2025
Slippery Rock University is transitioning its student information system this year. Located within the MySRU portal, this system known internally as Banner is used for student directory information, course registration, grade submissions and other administrative tasks.
What Will Change?
SRU is still using Banner, so the functionality and modules will remain the same, but there will be a new version and how people access the system beginning with information related to the Fall 2025 semester. During the transition:
- “OneSIS Banner” will be used for Fall 2025 and beyond and
- “Legacy Banner” is for all information prior to Fall 2025.
When is the Launch?
OneSIS Banner/MySRU will go live for students, faculty and staff in March so that Fall 2025 student and course information can be accessed prior to course registration in April. After the transition is complete in the fall, all information from before Fall 2025 will be migrated from Legacy to OneSIS.
How Do I Access It?
Within the MySRU portal, there will be separate logins for Legacy and OneSIS.
- Legacy: If you are accessing information for Spring 2025, Summer 2025, or prior semesters, use the sign-on path for “Semesters Prior to Fall 2025.”
- OneSIS: If you are accessing information for Fall 2025, use the sign-on path for “Semesters Fall 2025 and beyond.”
What Is Staying the Same?
MySRU and all Banner modules contained within the portal will look and function the same, regardless of which version is used. My Rock Audits will also look the same.
Why is SRU Doing This?
This move to OneSIS Banner is part of a System Redesign within Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education to use the same software and more efficient processes across all state-owned universities. PASSHE chose Banner, which SRU has been using since 2011. This means SRU will experience minimal changes aside from the temporary separate logins during the transition.
What Else Do I Need to Know?
There are other updates, such as Banner IDs changing from those beginning with “A0” to “P,” effective Fall 2025, but the Academic Records Office will share more details in future emails this semester. Also, staff who maintain information contained within Banner will be required to update information in both instances of Banner for a period of time.
SRU is committed to making this transition as seamless as possible.
