SRU welcomes you to the Information Systems and Technology Management Department (ISTM). Whether you are joining the department or exploring the possibility of beginning or continuing your academic journey with us, we are thrilled with the opportunity to be partnering with you. All of us at the department and SRU at large are strongly committed to supporting student success. The ISTM department within the School of Business (SBUS) provides an Information Systems undergraduate program and a graduate program in Health Information Management.
The BS in Information Systems program is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). Only 5% of the world’s business programs are accredited by this organization! AACSB accreditation ensures continuous improvement and provides focus for schools to deliver on their mission through the three pillars for innovation, impact, and engagement. The MS in Health Information Management is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM).
While studying in the IS program you will prepare for a rewarding career in one of the most dynamic industries in the world. There is a high demand for people to come join the ranks of the information systems and technology management professionals who are quietly changing the world. Similarly, there is high demand for professional with skills in managing health information for improved healthcare service delivery.
As a graduate of our programs, you will develop the theoretical and hands-on knowledge, skills, and abilities to be the most qualified and attractive entry-level employee in various industries such as healthcare, security, and many other businesses and technology related. You will learn to analyze business problems; design, develop, and manage technical solutions that will meet the business challenges and strategic opportunities. This will help position you strongly in an increasingly digitized and connected world. In fact, SRU IS alumni can be found working in some of the region’s most prominent businesses including UPMC, Giant Eagle, PNC, Highmark and more. Our faculty come from diverse backgrounds with extensive professional experience in information systems and technology management, systems analysis, security, and project management. The professors bring the “real-life” practical experience to each classroom. We maintain a supportive and personal learning environment with extensive advisement and guidance. Our students enjoy many opportunities for personal interactions with professors inside the classroom and beyond.
