NeuroRocks!
Open to all interested students, NeuroRocks! is a social/service organization that engages in opportunities to educate, promote, and engage in community outreach to raise awareness and interest in the brain - health and research. NeuroRocks works with the Girl Scouts, arranges for guest speakers, and organizes other activities with the goal of fostering a stronger connection throughout Slippery Rock.
Brain Awareness Week
Brain Awareness Week is an international campaign to increase awareness across campuses and communities of the progress and benefits of brain research. Each year, a team of Slippery Rock University students organize a week-long series of events to engage students across campus in activities to learn about the brain. Each year, the BAW team chooses a focus for the event. In past years, the focus for BAW has included concussion awareness, drug addiction, and stress. Activities have included a public awareness campaign for concussion prevention in local schools, a brain art gallery, documentary viewing, speakers, and hands-on laboratory activities. The Brain Awareness Week team meets regularly throughout the year to plan and coordinate the events.
