Beverly Antis collaborative Piano Scholarship
Awarded by the Music Department to students/ensembles that are on the piano above and beyond the required time.
Dwight and Jeane Baker Scholarship
Awarded to either a stringed instrumentalist or pianist. Determined at audition. There is no deadline.
M. Kate Brennan Music Education Scholarship
Awarded to an outstanding Music Education major who has earned at least 60 credits at SRU and holds a 3.25 cumulative GPA. The deadline is February 15th. This application is currently closed.
Kris Chapin Memorial Flute Scholarship
Awarded to a flutist. A separate application is required.
Shiron Cooper Memorial Steel Pan Scholarship
Open to any major, but must be registered for SRU Panorama. Student should have strong leadership ability. Student must submit one new arrangement for Panorama each semester (fall and spring of the award year). This scholarship is awarded in the spring semester of the award year. Marianne Cornetti Vocal Scholarship
Voice major. Award determined by anticipated or current contribution to the department solo vocal performance area. No minimum GPA exists for this scholarship but students must earn an A grade in their applied lessons. Multiple awards may be given and there is no deadline.
James E. and Gay K. Dull Scholarship
Instrumental music major. Award based on talent determined at audition. The award is renewable, and there is no deadline.
Mechelle Hawk Music Education Scholarship
Awarded to an outstanding junior music education major chosen by the music education faculty.
Dr. Stephen Hawk Jazz Scholarship
Student must be a full-time music major who demonstrates excellence as a jazz musician. Preference will be given to an instrumentalist.
Sue Manchester Hunt Memorial Scholarship
Student must be music major. Award is renewable with good academic standing.
Music Therapy for Social Justice Scholarship
Must have a commitment to social justice and be an incoming music therapy major. Submit a short essay on the importance of social justice in the field of music therapy here. The deadline is March 31st. This scholarship is currently closed.
Ronald Phillips Memorial Award for Bassoon
Applicants must be current bassoonists at SRU with preference being given to members of the Slippery Rock University Bassoon Studio. Award will be offered to one recipient. Applicants must perform a solo piece (with or without accompaniment) and present a short statement on how they embody one or more characteristics of Mr. Phillips (generous, hardworking, determined, kind, encouraging).
Piano scholarship
The student must be a music major and assist the music department with solo piano and piano accompanying needs. The recipient must have at least a 2.0 GPA.
Blase S. Scarnati Scholarship
Must demonstrate outstanding leadership as an active member of the SRU marching band. There is no deadline.
Sue Shuttleworth Music Therapy Scholarship
Music Therapy major who has earned at least 60 credits at SRU, holds at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA, and is actively involved in the music therapy club and is a member of the American Music Therapy Association. Applicants must also be registered for at least 12 credits (full-time) in the upcoming fall semester. The deadline is February 15th. This application is currently closed.
SRU Band scholarship
Awarded to one or more members of SRU's Band ensembles. The scholarship recipient will be determined by the Director of Bands along with the Music Department Scholarship Committee. Recipients must audition for both the Wind Ensemble and Concert Band and thereafter be a full participant.
Terry Steele Jazz Scholarship
Awarded to an outstanding jazz student. There is no deadline.
M. Clair and Marie Swope Scholarship
Sophomore or Junior music major in good academic standing who holds at least a 3.0 GPA in major and demonstrates financial need and strong potential for success in the music field. The application deadline is February 15. This application is currently closed.
swope citizenship award
Awarded to a current undergraduate student who has demonstrated leadership qualities within the Department of Music. Qualified candidates will not only have excelled in their musical endeavors, but emerged as leaders within the Department of Music student body through their participation in departmental events, encouragement of their peers, and dedication to the success of the department student body as a whole. Nominations are required to apply. Nominated students must submit a Swope Citizenship Award application. Applicants must complete at least one full semester of academic studies at Slippery Rock University and must maintain a 3.25 GPA.
Chad Williamson Memorial Vocal Scholarship
Awarded to a full-time voice major: winner chosen through fall vocal competition. Three awards are given - 1st place, 2nd place, and 3rd place. The deadline is October 8th. This application is currently closed.
Bonnie Winder Scholarship
Awarded to a sophomore or junior music major based on academic excellence and contribution to the department. The deadline is February 15th. This application is currently closed.
J. Kevin Woods Memorial Scholarship
A full-time instrumental music major in good academic standing with a 3.0 cumulative GPA in music courses. Preference will be given to outstanding wind performers from the junior and senior class. The deadline is February 15th.
Linda Yarger Scholarship in Music
Awarded to a music major in good academic standing.
