On-campus housing at Slippery Rock University provides you with a fun, friendly and safe living environment. Housing Applications

Please check your SRU email regularly regarding your student housing. The MyHousing Portal is used to confirm your room, select meal plans, and find contact information regarding your roommate(s).

CURRENT STUDENTS

If you would like to secure on-campus housing for Spring 2021, please log into your MyHousing Portal and under the application tab, select SP21 Placement Request. From that request, we will offer you an on-campus agreement via your SRU email. Once signed, we will make your room assignment based on the preferences collected on the placement request, as best able.  

For Fall 2021-Spring 2022 on-campus housing, please monitor your SRU email in late January for an outline of the process of how to secure on-campus housing.

SPRING 2021 ARRIVAL 

When do I get to move into the residence halls?

Residential students will receive information from the Office of Housing with an assigned move-in time.  Students with face-to-face course modalities and their suitemates will be assigned to arrive on the weekend of January 22-24.  All other students will be assigned to arrive on the weekend of January 29-31.  Residents should monitor their SRU email account for further information.  On or about January 13, residents will receive an email with instructions for registering for an arrival time during the designated move-in period.

Will my housing and dining charges be reduced due to the phased move-in?

Yes.  For residential students, housing and dining charges will be prorated by one week or two weeks based on the student’s assigned move-in date.  For off-campus students with meal plans, a credit of one week’s charge will be issued due to the delayed start of dining operations.  

Why is SRU implementing a phased move-in for the spring 2021 semester?

The University is continually monitoring local conditions related to Covid-19.  In addition, the University is preparing to implement new Covid testing procedures for students.  Due to recent increases in the spread of the virus, the decision was made to move all courses on-line for the first two weeks of the semester and implement a phased move-in for students. 

What do I do if I have special circumstances affecting my move-in time?

Special circumstances should be discussed in advance with the Office of Housing by contacting housing@sru.edu or calling 724-738-2082 during office hours, Monday-Friday 8a-4p.  The Welcome Desk in each hall will be staffed on move-in days so travel delays on your date of arrival will not be an issue.

Will I be required to participate in Covid testing?

Yes.  Students living on campus will be required to participate in Covid testing upon arrival and approximately every two weeks thereafter.  Students should log into the housing portal at https://reslife.sru.edu to review the housing agreement as it relates to Covid mitigation, testing, and quarantine protocols.

Will I be able to change my meal plan after I move in?

Yes.  The meal plan change period has been extended.  Students can make one meal plan change up to February 7, 2021.  Questions about meal plans should be directed to Dining Services at dining@sru.edu or by phone at 724-738-2038

INCOMING FRESHMEN (Fall 2021)

Incoming freshmen will begin receiving communication regarding on-campus housing for Fall 2021 in late January 2021. Due to the pandemic, we have been delayed in beginning this process, but are now in the final stages to be able to offer on-campus agreements. Once that process launches, housing will email newly admitted freshmen each week with detailed information. Once you receive that email with specific housing information, you will be directed to log into your MyHousing Portal. Under the application tab, select on-campus housing request. Freshmen will receive priority for housing accomodations as first year students are required to reside on campus, if they are not commuting from their permanant home address. 

The housing application for new freshmen for Fall 2021 is not currently open, but when available you will complete your housing application and submit your $175 fee. If you are unable to submit the $175 for financial reasons, please contact the Office of Housing.

SRU’S My College Roomie software platform which will allow residential students to meet and select potential roommates before either arrives at Slippery Rock’s  campus.

NEW FRESHMEN (Spring 2021)

TRANSFER STUDENTS (Spring 2021)

Transfer student placement requests for on-campus housing are available and we do still have space for Spring 2021. Admitted students can log into your MyHousing Portal and under the application tab, select SP21 Placement Request. From that request, we will offer you an on-campus agreement via your SRU email. Once signed, we will make your room assignment based on the preferences collected on the placement request, as best able. Slippery Rock Campus Living

From our Residence Halls to our Rock Apartments, Slippery Rock University provides several different options to meet your housing needs. Living in student housing gives you more opportunities to meet new people, discover new places, access campus resources, and get involved with the SRU community. SRU Residence Halls provide a number of comfortable living optionsincluding two and four-person suites with private bedrooms and bathrooms. Our halls are safe and secure, with locked doors, ID access, video security systems, and friendly on-site Residence Life staff. We also offer Living Learning Communities so students with similar interests live in certain halls. You also get great perks like:

  • In-building laundry facilities
  • Study and recreational lounges (Limited occupancy due to COVID-19)
  • Vending machines

One of the best things about living on Slippery Rock’s campus is that it puts so many great resources at your fingertips. You'll have convenient access to:

  • The library, tutors, and academic research
  • Recreational facilities including a fitness (cardio and weight) room, indoor pool, track, basketball and racquetball courts, and more

SRU Dining 

Please visit AVI Food Services to review our meal plan structure and pricing for 2020-2021.  Students residing in on-campus housing (except Rock Apartments) will be assigned automatically to the default meal plan #12 (12 meals per week with $445 in flex funds). Off-campus and Rock Apartments residents may sign up for a meal plan. All students are permitted to make one change per semester to their meal plan within the first 2 weeks of each semester. Dining Services is following all guidance from the Centers for Disease Control, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and local health officials in preparation for the academic year.  Locations and operating hours are subject to change due to changing conditions related to COVID-19.
