Campus Living

SRU provides several different options to meet your housing needs, including

  • Eight Residence Halls with expansive rooms and a variety of enjoyable amenities. They include comfortable living options—including two, four, and six-person suites with private bedrooms and bathrooms.
  • Our fully furnished Rock Apartments that provide nearly 200 upper-class students their own bedroom, along with a kitchen and a living/dining area.

Living in student housing gives you more opportunities to meet new people, discover new places, access campus resources and get involved with the SRU community.

Our halls are safe and secure, with locked doors, ID access, video security systems and friendly on-site professional staff. We also offer Living Learning Communities (LLCs) so students with similar interests live in certain halls. Additional perks include:

  • Study and recreational lounges
  • Vending machines

One of the best things about living on SRU’s campus is that it puts so many great resources at your fingertips. You'll have convenient access to:

  • Classrooms, professors and advisers
  • The library, tutors and academic research
  • Recreational facilities including a fitness (cardio and weight) room, indoor pool, track, basketball, and racquetball courts and more.
  • Dining services, a grill, and convenience stores
  • Campus health facilities

Housing Applications

In addition to housing updates sent to your SRU email, the MyHousing Portal is your resource to:

  • Apply for on-campus housing.
  • Confirm your assigned room/bed.
  • Select meal plans.
  • Find contact information regarding your roommate(s).

First-Year Students

Incoming first-year students who have submitted the $90 enrollment deposit to Admissions will receive an email regarding on-campus housing for Spring 2025 or Fall 2025. Emails are delivered weekly for students who submit the prior week.

  • Once you receive that email with specific housing information, you will be directed to log into the MyHousing Portal.
  • On your portal, under the Application/Agreement tab, select "New Students".
  • New students admitted are required to reside on campus for two years (Click on the Residence Requirement tab for more details).

Transfer Students

Transfer students are not required to reside on-campus. Transfers are welcome to commute or secure off-campus options (see our Residence Requirement for more details).

  • If an incoming transfer students needs to reside on campus, an on-campus agreement will be active when the student is officially enrolled.
  • Do not sign an on-campus agreement if you plan to commute or reside off campus.
  • On-campus students should expect to have suitemates/roommates. Room styles available will primarily be double or triple occupancy. 

Dining

Learn about the variety of dining options available by visiting Dining Services and to review our Meal Plan structure.

  • Students residing in on-campus housing (excluding Rock Apartments) will be assigned automatically to the default meal plan of 14 meals per week with $350 in Flex Funds.
  • Students are permitted to make one change per semester to their meal plan through the first three weeks of each semester, beginning July 1.
