Moving In
Make it Easy for Yourself
Tentative date for Fall 2023 move in (new students only) is: Thursday, August 17, 2023.
(Returning students move in on Sunday, August 20).
If you live within a two-hour drive of Slippery Rock, you can make move-in day easier by just bringing the essentials including clothes to last two weeks. Sometime during those two weeks, you can either pick up the rest of your things on a trip home, or invite your parents or family members to come to campus for a visit and ask them to bring you want you need. By that time, you'll have a good idea of what you really need from home and what can realistically fit into your room. We got a bit of a list started for you here: What to Bring .

All residents (new and returning): Sign up for your move-in time on your MyHousing Portal after July 10, 2023. You will receive an email (sent to your SRU email) to prompt you to do so.
Early arrival: July 10, 2023 on MyHousing Portal . If you are part of a group (i.e. Jump Start, band, athletics, dance, etc.) DO NOT complete this form as your advisor/coach will do so for you. You may wish to contact your coach/advisor to confirm your name has been submitted.
If you have extenuating circumstances in which you must move in earlier than the scheduled date, you may complete the Early Arrival request You will pay a nightly fee ($25/night). We encourage students not to arrive early unless necessary, as part of the experience is arriving with your class as a group.
Before You Move In
We will send an email to the SRU account belonging to the student when it is time to log back into the MyHousing/MyDining portal and complete the following:
Sign up for a move-in time (opens July 10). There will be timeslots available for you to choose.
Complete the Student Information Form. On MyHousing portal, select the Student Information (found under Helpful Links). If this information is not completed, during the check-in process you will be directed to a computer, thus losing your place in line, so that you may complete this information before checking-in.
Register for ResNet . SRU has partnered with Apogee to provide internet service and support to residences. To make sure you're connected, follow the steps to register for service. There is no charge for basic service, however you must register before you will be able to connect to the new SRU On Campus Student Network.
Students can make changes to their dining plan July 1- September 3. Students are permitted one meal plan change per semester. Many students choose to wait until they arrive at SRU and have a better feel for how their meal usage will be daily before making any changes.
Pay House Council Fee on the MyHousing portal.
Meningitis Waiver: By state law, all students residing on campus are required to submit medical verification of a meningitis vaccination or sign a release waiver before moving into their residence hall or apartment. Those students requesting an exemption for religious or other reasons must sign the vaccination waiver. If the student is under the age of 18, they must have a parent or guardian also sign. This information (vaccine date or waiver) will be part of the "Before You Move In" section of the My Housing portal.
If you have not already done so, complete your Health History Information in the Student Health web portal at https://studenthealthportal.sru.edu
