SRU Dance Theatre presents Emerging Artists Dance Concert, Jan. 28 and 29

Slippery Rock University Dance Theatre presents the Emerging Artists Dance Concert, 7:30 p.m., Jan. 28, and 2 p.m., Jan. 29 at the Miller Theater.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — Slippery Rock University Dance Theatre will begin the spring 2022 semester with the Emerging Artists Dance Concert in the newly renovated the Miller Theater, 7:30 p.m., Jan. 28, and 2 p.m., Jan.29. This artistic showcase includes the work of 46 student performers and choreographers who are part of Dance Theatre, a company within SRU's Department of Dance. Along with the choreography of junior and senior dance majors, the concert will also contain work from two additional guest artists, Cameron McKinney from New York and Teena Marie Custer from Pittsburgh.

"This concert beautifully highlights SRU's Department of Dance," said Lindsay Viatori, associate professor of dance and the department's artistic director. "The dances presented on this concert were adjudicated by a panel of faculty and guest artists who found this choreography to be the strongest representation of the SRU dance program."

The performers and choreographers for the Emerging Artists Dance Concert include:

  • Katelin Baughn, a senior dance major from Mount Gilead, Ohio.
  • Olivia Blankenship, a junior dance major from Waterville, Ohio.
  • Kali Booker, a senior dual dance and communication major from New Castle.
  • Ashlin Broody-Walega, a junior dance major from Pringle.
  • Jaidin Broody-Walega, a sophomore dance major from Pringle.
  • Auriana Carrington, a junior dance major from Venetia.
  • Alicea Chludzinski, a senior dance major from Erie.
  • Anna DeRubeis, a senior dual early childhood education and dance major from Altoona.
  • Margaret Duesberry, a freshman dual health and physical education and dance major from Harleysville.
  • Gabrielle Dunn, a junior dance major from Bethel Park.
  • JayElle Dunning, a sophomore dual exercise science and dance major from Williamson, New York.
  • Olivia Farmerie, a sophomore dual dance and exercise science major from Butler.
  • Isabel Farr, a senior dance major from Avon Lake, Ohio.
  • Sydney Forbes , a sophomore dance major from Blooming Glen.
