SRU’s master’s degree in data analytics among nation’s best

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University's master's degree in data analytics has been ranked by OnlineMasters.com as one of the "best master's in data science programs" for 2019.

SRU was one of 30 programs in the country recognized by OnlineMasters.com, which evaluated institutions based on academic quality, student success and affordability. Additionally, SRU earned distinction as the "best for careers in big data," based on OnlineMasters.com's research.

OnlineMasters.com, a nonprofit ranking program that's assisted more than 112,000 students and analyzed more than 6,000 programs, researched every online master's in data science program in the United States by consulting industry experts, hiring managers, current students and alumni.

According to OnlineMasters.com researchers, "Slippery Rock University prepares graduates for careers as big data scientists. This program not only provides extensive coursework for a master's degree but also provides the necessary training for students to take the Certified Analytics Professional exam."

SRU's program prepares students to use data analysis methods, use predictive modeling, maintain data security and communicate effectively with constituents. Graduates of the program receive both a master of science from SRU and professional certificate from the SAS Institute for Advanced Analytics.

SAS is one of the most widely used software platforms in the world for performing data analytics and statistical analysis. SRU is one of only 56 institutions in the U.S. offering the SAS certificate. Additionally, the program prepares graduates to take the Certified Analytics Professional exam administered by the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences.

The 33-credit hour program can be completed in 10 months full-time or two years part-time and is offered fully online.
