Winter Storm Update

Slippery Rock University will continue with remote work and academic instruction on Tuesday, January 27. Thank you for helping keep campus vehicle-free while our facilities team continues their important work of clearing walkways, roadways, and parking lots in anticipation of a return to in-person work and in-classroom instruction.
The University will expand services for Tuesday, including:
- Happy Bus: The off-campus happy bus will operate its normal 30-minute loop schedule with revised stops.
- There will be only one stop on campus: Swope Hall.
- All off-campus stops will remain the same.

- Bailey Library: will open at 10:00am
On Tuesday, January 27, most campus buildings will be closed. All staff work and academic instruction will be remote. The buildings and services below will be open, when conditions permit.
- Aebersold Recreation Center (ARC)
- Bailey Library (opens 10am)
- Dining Services (visit www.sru.edu/dining for location hours and ordering details)
- Morrow Field House
- Residence Halls
- Smith Student Center
- Student Health Center
- University Police
- All scheduled events and activities in buildings other than those named above are canceled. Attendees should check with the event or activity host for updates.
A vital part of preparing campus for in-person work and classroom instruction on Wednesday, January 28 is ensuring that the walkways, roadways, and parking lots are properly cleared and treated. This is best completed with minimal campus activity.
Students are advised to remain indoors when possible and only traverse campus by foot for essential needs such as food. If you must move your vehicle, remember to clear snow from it as required by law to support road safety. Those with vehicles should expect significant snow cover to clear.
As frigid temperatures continue to settle in, students are advised to wear multiple layers for warmth when outside. When inside, please ensure windows remain closed and the spaces are warm to prevent water lines from freezing, which could lead to leaks or floods.

- For leak and/or maintenance issues, contact Facilities and Planning at 724-738-2678 or facilities@sru.edu.
- For concerns after hours, contact University Police at 724-738-3333.
- For questions or concerns, reach out to Housing and Residence Life at 724-738-2082.
- For an emergency, contact the Community Assistant on duty, the Front Welcome Desk, or University Police at 724-738-3333.

The University has plans in place in case of power or heating loss, with additional generators on site for emergency backup power in specific locations.
Essential employees will report as scheduled throughout the duration of the weather event unless otherwise directed by their immediate supervisors.
