Slippery Rock University’s seventh annual Giving Day is March 24.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — Slippery Rock University is hosting Giving Day, its annual fundraising event, March 24. For this one-day campaign, SRU alumni, students, employees and friends of the University are encouraged to give money to support SRU student scholarships, clubs, organizations, academic departments, athletic teams and more.
Scheduled each year since 2017, SRU's Giving Day coincides with Founders' Day, the anniversary of the first day SRU opened its doors for classes on March 26, 1889. Because Founders' Day is on a weekend this year, Giving Day is happening on Friday, two days earlier.
The University has raised more than $1.4 million over the last six years, including more than $650,000 from 1,531 donors last year. This year, organizers have set a goal for 1,500 donors.
Here's how people can participate:
GIVE: Make online contributions on SRU's Giving Day webpage, givingday.sru.edu, now through 11:59 p.m., March 24. When completing the online donation form, people can designate their gift to any area on campus they would like to support.
BECOME AN ADVOCATE: Donors can create a profile on the Giving Day website and become an "Advocate," which allows participants to track the number of clicks, gifts and dollars they personally generated for the campaign. Advocates can also create challenges and matches, as well as Personal Pleas, which are short videos explaining why they give and encouraging others to join them in supporting the campaign.
SPREAD THE WORD: Participants are encouraged to use the hashtag #SRUGivingDay on social media and share stories about why they give and spread awareness about SRU programs, organizations and projects.
There will be several challenges available on the Giving Day webpage, but all donations, no matter the area of campus it supports, will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $100,000. This match will support student scholarships at SRU, thanks to an anonymous donor.
