SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — Oh, the places you'll go if you attend the Slippery Rock University Theatre Department's production of "Seussical the Musical," April 21-23 at the Miller Theater in the Performing Arts Center. SRU student cast members will take audiences on a musical journey through a collection of stories from the classic Dr. Seuss anthology. There will be four performances:

  • 7:30 p.m., April 21
  • 7:30 p.m., April 22
  • 2 p.m., April 23
  • 6 p.m., April 23

Tickets can be purchased online at sru.edu/tickets or at the door one hour before each show. Tickets are $12 for SRU students and $15 for general admission.

The musical will bring to life many Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie and Jojo, a little boy with a big imagination. The 75-minute show is fun for people of all ages. It features music by Stephen Flaherty and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens from a book by Flaherty and Ahrens, and is co-conceived by Eric Idle. SRU co-directors of "Seussical the Musical" are Aaron Galligan-Stierle, assistant professor of theatre, and Naomi Costanza, a senior acting major from Cranberry Township.

In addition to the public performances, there will be special showings on April 21 for students from Slippery Rock Elementary, Connoquenessing Valley Elementary, West Middlesex Elementary, and Saint Marys Area High School.

  • Gabriel Craig, a junior acting major from Easton.
  • Corban Dunn, a junior theatre major from Grove City.
  • Shawn Faraoni, a junior acting major from Pittsburgh.
  • Maya Gensler, a junior acting major from Germantown, Maryland.
  • Hailey Herrmann, a senior acting major from Cranberry Township.
  • Lizzie Hopkins, a sophomore acting major from Appleton, New York.
  • Mikayla Keyes, a freshman acting major from Pittsburgh.
  • Gwen Lillycrop, a senior acting major from Westminster, Maryland.
  • Jack Lloyd, a freshman acting major from Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
  • Katelyn Loss, a senior acting major from Mountoursville.
  • Abby Malczon, a junior acting major from Cromwell, Connecticut.
  • Alawna Mallory, a senior acting major from Crafton.
  • Aidan Nahas, a freshman acting major from Huntingtown, Maryland.
  • Ricky Osman, a sophomore acting major from Wilmington, Delaware.
  • Tyrese Riggins, a freshman acting major from Beaver Falls
  • Rachel Simms, a senior acting major from Gibsonia.
  • Miriam Shrivastava, a sophomore acting major from Mason, Ohio.

In addition to Galligan-Stierle and Constanza, the production staff includes Lincoln Sandham, instructor of theatre, as music director; Ashley Marinelli as choreographer, and Aleah Stahlnecker, a junior dual acting and dance major from Hughesville, as dance captain.

The creative team includes Sam Kuchta, assistant professor of theatre, as scenic designer and lighting designer; Kerri Packard, instructor of theatre, as costume designer; Michael Boone, technical director; Tyler Parsonage, a senior theatre major from Murrysville, as sound designer; Harley Scherrbaum, a senior theatre major from Irwin, as stage manager; Lexi Gibbs, a freshman theatre major from Ellwood City, and Jennie Parrish, a junior dual social work and theatre major from Baltimore, Maryland, as assistant stage managers; Gretchen Jessup, a junior acting major from Amherst, New York, as dramaturg; and Spencer Clifford, a freshman environmental geoscience major from Leetsdale, as propmaster.
