Kazemi is an SRU associate professor of physics and engineering. He holds a Ph.D. in petroleum and natural gas engineering from West Virginia University and a Master of Science in petroleum engineering from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

"Since joining Slippery Rock University in 2018, Dr. Kazemi has taught a wide range of both physics and engineering courses and has helped develop the SRU petroleum and natural gas engineering program and curriculum," said Zieg. "His previous experience on the petroleum and natural gas engineering ABET accreditation committee is invaluable, and I have all the confidence in the world in his ability to lead the school of engineering into its next phase."

Kazemi will be overseeing the accreditation process for SRU's civil engineering and mechanical engineering programs as soon as they are eligible following the graduation of the SRU Class of 2023 next month. Last year, the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology certified industrial and systems engineering and petroleum and natural gas engineering programs.
