SRU’s music therapy program ranked on list of ‘50 Best Affordable’

Slippery Rock University’s music therapy program has been ranked on Affordable Schools’ list of “50 Best Affordable Music Therapy Bachelor’s Degree Programs.”

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — Slippery Rock University's music therapy program has been ranked on the list of the "50 Best Affordable Music Therapy Bachelor's Degree Programs" for 2020 by Affordable Schools, a resource that helps people students make smart, higher education decisions.

SRU's program ranked No. 13 and was the highest ranked program in Pennsylvania to make the list.

Affordable Schools used data from the National Center for Education Statistics, and graded programs based on tuition in-state tuition, student-faculty ratios and average graduation rates.

SRU's music therapy program helps students develop the required musicianship and clinical skills to provide therapeutic support to people of all ages with a wide range of physical, intellectual, emotional, behavioral, developmental, sensory and social needs. Students develop the required competencies to work in special education, nursing homes, psychiatric treatment centers, correctional facilities, rehabilitation centers, day programs and private practice.
