SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — Colleges of Distinction has recognized Slippery Rock University for its outstanding commitment to student career development. SRU received the COD's 2020-21 Career Development badge for "providing unparalleled support throughout every stage of students' career exploration, development and application."

"The Career Development recognition goes beyond a job board and résumé writing," said Tyson Schritter, chief operating officer at Colleges of Distinction. "SRU has shown inventiveness in connecting with students throughout their academic careers and beyond. Students and graduates are fully supported by SRU's outstanding career center."

SRU's Office of Career Education and Development supports students and alumni in their learning and career development through person-to-person appointments, career management tools, speaking events, networking events, on-campus employer interviews and career expos and job fairs. The office serves a broad array of stakeholders including students and alumni, faculty and administrators, employers, parents and even community members, tailoring services to the needs of each particular group.

"We are excited to, once again, be among this elite group of institutions that are holistically invested in creatively engaging students in career thinking and action," said John Rindy, director of SRU's Office of Career Education and Development. "Our office continues to innovate each year, partnering with faculty to bring energy, ideas and resilience to students' career management action plans. As always, we have some new and exciting ideas in mind and will continue to be the benchmark for planned, mindful and high-impact career planning and life design."

COD has recognized and honored schools throughout the U.S. for excellence in undergraduate-focused higher education for 20 years. The member schools within the COD consortium distinguish themselves through their focus on the undergraduate experience.

Earlier this summer, SRU was awarded three COD badges by being named a 2020-21 national, public and Pennsylvania college of distinction. Also, SRU received the 2020-21 Field of Study badges for its education, business and nursing programs.
