SRU Athletics Giving Day happens Oct. 9

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — The Slippery Rock University Athletic Department and University Advancement will host the inaugural Rock Athletics Giving Day, Oct. 9, to raise funds for each of SRU's NCAA Division II athletic teams.
"This is something that has been talked about for a while and we are excited to bring it to fruition this year," said Paul Lueken, director of athletics. "We typically have had tremendous support for athletics during the University's annual Giving Day and we're hoping to see that carry over to this event."
The event will help generate funds for athletic scholarships and operating expenses for the University's 17 NCAA Division II teams, many of which have been impacted by a loss of revenue from various camps, clinics and facility rentals due to season and event postponements due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"These have no doubt been tough times in higher education," said Lueken. "The funds raised during Rock Giving Day will be crucial to the success of our athletes once we get back to action."
While the official Rock Giving Day will occur Oct. 9, each team's campaign is already live and accepting donations that will count toward the Rock Giving Day total.
