Smiley receives Kennedy Center Gold Medallion

Laura Smiley, a Slippery Rock University associate professor of theatre, was awarded the Kennedy Center Gold Medallion by the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival Region II.

Each year, the eight KCACTF regions honor individuals or organizations who have made extraordinary contributions to the teaching and producing of theater, and who have significantly dedicated their time, artistry and enthusiasm to the KCACTF. The award is considered by the KCACTF as the organization's most prestigious regional award.

The KCACTF is a yearly, national theater program involving 20,000 students from more than 700 colleges and universities.
