LaGamba earns Pitt's Outstanding Dissertation Award

Elizabeth LaGamba, a Slippery Rock University instructor of elementary education and early childhood, was awarded the 2019 Outstanding Ed.D. Dissertation Award by the University of Pittsburgh's School of Education.

The award recognized LaGamba's doctoral dissertation titled "An Investigation of Read-Alouds, Classroom Interactions, and Guided Play as Supports for Vocabulary Learning in Preschool," which focuses on playful pedagogies for enhancing the vocabulary knowledge of young learners. LaGamba received $2,500 toward submitting her research to peer-reviewed journals.

LaGamba is a 2009 SRU graduate with a master's degree in education. She earned a doctoral degree in education from the University of Pittsburgh in 2018.
