Myers wins ‘Best History Paper’ at The Examined Life conference

Kaitlyn Myers, a Slippery Rock University junior English writing major from Cochranton, was awarded “Best History Paper” for her presentation at The Examined Life, an undergraduate conference on the  liberal arts hosted by Saint Francis University, March 26.

Myers’ presentation, “The 400 Year Fight: Continuing the Protest for Women’s Equality,” focused on studies linked to early prominent writers and advocates for women’s rights including Anna Bradstreet, Judith Sargent Stevens Murray and Sarah Margaret Fuller. Her argument focused on how these American authors were progressive thinkers during their time. Myers also presented why their literature is essential in promoting equality today.

  • David Riddle, a junior philosophy major from Somerset.
  • Michael Griffith, a senior psychology major from Cranberry Township.
  • Naydelin Hernandez, a freshman exercise science major from Reading.
