Slippery Rock University's Physics Department received an $80,000 grant from the National Science Foundation to buy equipment for a new quantum laboratory that will help teach students about nanofabrication and quantum devices.

Sagar Bhandari, assistant professor of physics, wrote the grant that was awarded from the NSF's Center for Integrated Quantum Materials at Harvard University.

In a quantum lab, students will learn advanced quantum concepts by conducting experiments on particles with high magnetic fields and in extremely low temperatures. This quantum lab will be part of SRU's Center for Nanoscale Science that will have equipment that the students can use to create, image and characterize nanoscale devices.
