Krista White, a Slippery Rock University graduate student majoring in park and resource management from Slippery Rock, was recognized at the Pennsylvania Outdoor Writers Association annual conference as the inaugural recipient of the POWA Toyota Let’s Go Places Scholarship.

This new scholarship, sponsored by Toyota Motor North America, provides two Pennsylvania college students the opportunity to attend the POWA conference, which was July 29-Aug. 1 in West Middlesex, as well as pay for a one-year membership to the organization.

The POWA is the largest state outdoors writers association in the country with more than 230 members. The organization of professional communicators is centered around the promotion of education in the outdoors and providing strong and resounding conservation messages to the public.
