Bob Ogoreuc, a Slippery Rock University assistant professor of physical and health education, was recently inducted into the Ocean City Beach Patrol Hall of Fame and he received the Stowe Award for outstanding contribution to ocean lifesaving in Ocean City, New Jersey.

Ogoreuc, who was inducted into the OCBP Hall of Fame during a virtual induction ceremony last month, was the patrol’s first training officer, providing training and certification for the entire unit from the mid-1990s until 2008. He also implemented water safety programs for Ocean City’s fire department and other first responders.

The Ocean City Rowing & Athletic Association is a nonprofit organization devoted to preserving the history of professional ocean lifesaving in Ocean City.
